Kings County Whiskies have been winning many awards. In contrast to every distillery I’ve seen so far, Kings County doesn’t try to hearken back to some historical figure that shows how great their history in bourbon making is. Kings County is making products that don’t necessarily follow all of the patterns and tropes that other whiskey distillers do.
We’ll be tasting through their Bottled in Bond Bourbon, Barrel Strength Bourbon, and Peated Bourbon, and Peated American Single Malt Whiskey. They have won many awards for their spirits, most notably from the San Francisco Spirits Competition for their Peated Bourbon which is one of Will’s favorite expressions of theirs. The Peated Bourbon doesn’t taste smokey, but does bring a touch of earthiness to the typically sweet, vanilla, and caramel notes that is tasted in many bourbons.
