We waited for some time for the right barrel. We have tried several barrels from around bourbon distilleries and none of them really excited us. They were big names, they would send us a few samples from barrels we felt were poor representations of their brand, and not something we could get behind.

While Remus isn’t a small distillery by any means, it does have a crafty edge to it and they have made some fantastic whiskey. When it comes down to it, the juice in the bottle is just good. And that’s what happened when the distributor came to us with these samples. They were good and there was one that stood out.

Our George Remus Barrel Release party is going to be a blast. Not only are we going to taste through three bourbons from the Remus distillery: Remus Straight Bourbon, Our Selected Barrel at Barrel Strength, and Remus Repeal Reserve.

We’ll have bourbon cupcakes, bourbon pulled pork sandwiches with bourbon BBQ sauce, and fried chicken with sweet honey bourbon sauce all for purchase the night of the event.
