Off the coast of mainland Italy is a lesser known, but hugely important wine region: Sicily’s Mt Etna. An active volcano is a hard place to grow wine grapes, but the payoff is fantastic. Harsh and difficult environments produce fantastic wine grapes. The volcanic soils, seaside windswept mountain scape, and long sunny days are just that for Mt Etna.
