Glenfarclas is a great beginners scotch. It’s got sweet notes, it isn’t smokey/peaty, and its a comparatively an affordable whisky. There aren’t many 21yr old scotches out there, and they are usually in the $250+ range.

Another thing this family business loves about Glenfarclas: it’s a family business owned and operated independently for 5 generations! Pretty crazy to think about The Coffee Grounds being around for my great great grandchildren. We’re going to taste through four of Glenfarclas’ expressions and have a little bite to eat with it.

All of these whiskies are aged 100% in sherry oak. This is going to lend them some really approachable dark dried fruit notes. The below tasting notes are taken from the distillery’s website. Something else to be noted is that the longer a whisky sits in the barrel the more rounded the flavors will become. Depending on the oak used, it might also develop some coconut flavors which can be just delicious (a good example of this is Clan Denny’s bottling of Port Dundas 14yr).

Glenfarclas 10yr 40% ABV - honey, dried fruit, vanilla and cinnamon

Glenfarclas 12yr 43% ABV - sappy oak, sherried fruit, fruit bread

Glenfarclas 17yr 43% ABV - butterscotch, malty, baking spice

Glenfarclas 21yr 43% ABV - tropical fruit and almonds, cocoa/chocolate, nutmeg

Your $25 ticket will get you a 3/4oz pour of each of the whiskies, as well as some snacks that we will be making for the event. Finally, all of the Glenfarclass whiskies will be 15% off to event attendees for the evening.

We will be providing proper spacing for this event. Each attendee will be provided with a glencairn for tasting and a representative from our liquor company or from K Point/The Coffee Grounds will come to your table to pour your whiskey.
